Nungwi & Kendwa Beach Day

Nungwi is the busiest beautiful beach on Unguja, Kendwa the quieter curve just south of it along the sand at low tide. This day is private. We drive you north, leave you with shade and a plan for lunch, and agree the hour home. If you want it, we add Mnarani, the natural tidal aquarium where turtles are kept for rehabilitation — go in knowing it is an enclosure, not a wild encounter, and skip it if that is not for you. The lighthouse headland and the dhow builders on the beach are the parts of Nungwi that are not only sunbeds.

Questions

Is the beach public?

The sand is. Sunbeds in front of hotels are often paid. We will point you to a fair stretch.

Can we stay for sunset?

Yes. Say so and we set a later return. Kendwa’s sunset is the one people mean.

Do you recommend the turtles?

Only if you want to see a rehabilitation pool and understand it is not the open sea. We will not pretend otherwise.
