Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is a caldera, not an open savanna you drive for a week. From the rim you drop to a contained world of grassland, a soda lake, hippo pools, and a density of animals that is the reason for the high fee. Black rhino are the animal people hope for. They are present and not guaranteed. Lion, buffalo, zebra, and flamingo in season are the more reliable company. From Zanzibar the sensible shape is two days: fly to Arusha, night in Karatu or on the rim, crater descent the next morning with a picnic, then back toward a flight. A single day from the island is not a kind plan. Crater time is limited by the rules of the area; we use the hours properly instead of promising a private sunset inside.

Questions
Will we see a rhino?
Often, not always. We will not write it on the invoice as a promise.
Is it cold?
The rim is high and the morning is cold. Bring a layer even if Zanzibar was hot the day before.
Can we add Serengeti?
Yes. Look at the four-day northern journey, or ask us to stretch this one.
